doing the adult thing

We have been living in our current apartment for going on nine years. We never bothered with renters insurance. Partly because we didn’t think we could afford it and partly because, well, why bother. Right?

Our landlord has different ideas and when they sent us a new lease to sign (complete with a rent increase, which we were expecting), said lease would not be renewed without proof of renters insurance.

The house husband will pay for that (since I’m covering the both of us for health insurance), but still, ouch. I dug around for quotes and found one that we can afford. But still.

Just one more unexpected expense.

I don’t like this adult thing.
