The winter of 2013/14 in Chicago was quickly named Chibera. We live right on Lake Michigan and this is what the lake looked like end of Jan/early Feb of 2014. Where those pilings end? That’s the normal shoreline. While I was never brave enough to walk out on the ice, I’m guessing it extended another half mile.
Friends from home often ask what would the lake look like if it froze over. Well, other than we (as in humanity) would be in serious trouble if the entire Great Lakes froze over, I would send them this picture.
This was taken a few weeks ago for comparison.
